Lot Essay

Although this figure has certain similarities with Predynastic pottery figures (cf. figures in a model boat in Munich Katalog, Ägyptische Kunst München, no. 1, p. 5) the early depiction of a figure with shabti accoutrements suggests a post-Dynasty XII horizon. There is some similarity with the bound prisoner figures of the Second Intermediate Period
