AN ATTIC RED-FIGURE COLUMN KRATER, BY THE LENINGRAD PAINTER
Circa 500 B.C.

Side A: two youths each wearing a himation and leafy fillet, one with cheeks puffed out playing the double flutes, his companion with head thrown back and hand extended
Side B: two older men, similarly dressed with himations and fillets, one with a wispy beard playing energetically on double flutes, his cheeks extended and pipes held upwards, a bearded man resting on a stick looks on with right hand extended towards the musician
A frieze of interlocking lotus buds on the neck panels, rays around the foot, fillets in added purple, repaired
