A FRENCH WALNUT CASSONE with hinged rectangular top edged with gadrooning, the front carved with twin panels with reclining figure of Juno with peacock and a reclining female figure with a ho-ho type bird within entrelac scroll borders flanked and divided by winged draped satyr herms, the base carved with swagged drapery and mascarone, on later scrolled mask feet flanking a later pierced scroll and mask apron, the panelled sides with iron carrying-handles, basically late 16th Century, restorations, one back foot detached, on later platform base, 16th Century and later
