Grigor'ev was a student at the Strogonov School of Applied Art in Moscow in 1903-1907 and then the Academy of Arts in 1907-1912. He became a member of 'World of Art' and participated in the festive decoration of Petrograd on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Revolution. However, he moved to France permanently in 1919.
