Rectangular, the white sunburst guilloché enamel hinged sides with bright-cut engraved mount, the inside with an inscription 'From Victoria with grateful thanks. Jan 1.1912.', marked on the interior

This case is sold with a note inscribed 'Given to Kit by Princess Victoria', probably in thanks for Sir Christopher Cradock's rescue of the Duke and Duchess of Fife and their daughters in the shipwreck of the P & O liner Delhi off Cape Spartel, Morocco, on the 13th December 1911
