etching with drypoint and engraving, 1648, first state (of three), a superb, early impression, with the numerous touches of burr characteristic of only the earliest impressions (e.g. on the walking stick, to the bars of the window and most noticeably on the sleeves of the almsgiver), printed with a delicate tone and displaying excellent contrasts, with 5 mm. margins, apart from two or three unobtrusive pale foxmarks, in excellent, fresh condition
