Lot Essay

This newspaper basket was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens for his own use, certainly at 13 Mansfield Street, where he lived from September 1919, however it may have designed earlier while he was living in Bedford Square. His daughter, Mary Lutyens, remembers the piece being in constant use.

We are grateful to Mary Lutyens for her help in the preparation of this catalogue entry.
