Lot Essay

A.H. Gerrard, born 1898, professor of the Slade School of Art. London, was commisssioned by the Cunard White Star Line, circa 1935, to carved a series of four such pieces depicting 'Rural Life in England'. The four panels were later fitted prominently in the First Class Restaurant of the R.M.S. Britannic.
