Lot Essay

The present relief is a fine bronze reduction of the large marble decorating the monument to Comtesse d'Agoult, the author Daniel Stern, in Paris. The plaster and marble versions were exhibited at the Salons of 1876 and 1877 respectively; a plaster model is in the Musée du Mée.
