A MEISSEN GROUP OF EUROPA AND THE BULL, the maiden seated on the back of the animal adorning its head with a garland of flowers, lightly clad in a yellow drape enriched with gilt stars, its folds falling down the side of the bull, flanked by the kneeling and seated figures of two attendant maidens wearing flowered robes, one offering Europa a flower taken from a basket, on a grassy oval base moulded with white and gilt scrolls (tail broken, one basket-handle lacking, chips to flowers and leaves, one maiden's left foot damaged), blue crossed swords mark, Pressnumer 48, incised 2697, painted number 27, circa 1860
