AN ITALIAN RECTANGULAR CASKET AND COVER with a detachable surmount formed as a youth and maiden embracing, holding a goblet and bunch of grapes, attended by a putto, a faun and a lioness, the casket and cover moulded con basso relievo istoriato in the 18th Century Doccia style with mythological figures in marine and mountainous landscapes and with horizontal bands of moulded gadroons, scale-pattern, leaves and fruit, the indented sides applied with female masks within green and gilt scroll medallions, the cover applied at the corners with four medallions moulded with ribbon-tied cornucopiae of flowers (casket restored, putto's left thumb lacking, chips to rim of surmount, wear to gilding), circa 1880
