A VIENNA-STYLE YELLOW-GROUND CIRCULAR PLAQUE painted by F. Wagner after Peter Paul Rubens with Decius standing on a pedestal conversing with four Roman warriors, one clad in a leopard pelt, in an extensive mountainous landscape, enclosed within a rectangular cartouche outlined with a ciselé gilt band, a claret band enriched with gilt husks and a seeded blue band, the ground reserved with pink-ground medallions enriched with gilt trophies within similar outlines and with flowering foliate-scrolls and cherubs painted in pastel colours, the rim also with claret and blue bands (minor wear to gilding), artist's signature, blue beehive marks and iron-red script, circa 1880
