A FRENCH GREEN-GROUND OVIFORM VASE with a trumpet neck, the body reserved with a blank white oval cartouche outlined in gilding, the reverse painted in gilding and silver with a pair of peacocks flanking interlaced symmetrical foliage and scrolls below a silvered cartouche, the ground painted with a silver chequer-pattern enriched in gilding at the intersections with four-pointed stars, between a horizontal band of acorns at the shoulder and zig-zag pattern at the lower body, on a flared foot (chips to base of neck, wear to gilding), circa 1860
