A GILT-METAL-MOUNTED SÈVRES-PATTERN DARK-BLUE-GROUND OVIFORM VASE AND COVER painted by A. Hazel with a boy and girl fishing in an idyllic rural landscape, a young girl holding baskets of fruit and flowers beside them, a fishing net hung on a wooden fence at their side, within an oval ciselé gilt cartouche outlined with intricate gilt foliate scrolls, the reverse with a rustic building and a bridge in a landscape within a gilt palm-frond cartouche, the flared neck and foot gilt with vases of flowers and symmetrical scrolls, mounted with an artichoke finial, two upturned scroll handles suspending tasselled rings and fixed laurel-wreaths, with beaded supports terminating in a band of acanthus leaves encircling the lower body, the foot mounted with a laurel-wreath and on a shaped-square base, artist's signature (slight wear to gilding), cover with imitation blue interlaced L and letter mark, circa 1860
