Lot Essay

Dominick Manticha an Italian imigrant whose exact dates are unknown, however his barometers tended to be of above average quality. The double-tube barometer was a combination of mercury and oil used alternately in the tubes and the level of the oil in the open right hand side tube indicated the atmospheric pressure, the lower the pressure the higher the oil rises in the tube. The spirit thermometer has farenheit scale.
