--Vintage 1978 (4)
--Vintage 1985 (4)
--Vintage 1987 (4)
The legendary "Cask 23", the winery's crême de tête produced only in vintages of exceptional merit. These three vintage have been pronounced outstanding with the 1985 widely considered the best Californian Cabernet of the decade (it was the famous 1973 which trounced all comers, including first-growths châteaux of Bordeaux at the "infamous" blind tasting in Paris in 1976). A small percentage of Merlot also planted beneath the rock promentory of Stag's Leap Palisades is blended with the Cabernet Sauvignon. The high demand for the necessarily small production results in high prices. This mixed case is currrently valued at $1,500
Above 12 bottles per lot
