Idyll Vineyard Geelong Cabernet Shiraz--Vintage 1980
The Idyll vineyard, located near Geelong in Southern Victoria, was first planted in 1966. The climate is cool by Victorian standards. Three wines are produced at Idyll, by far the best being their blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The 1980 was, as in most major Australian wine districts, a cool growing season with a high reputation, producing long-living red wines, and a particular success at Idyll.
