A MEISSEN CIRCULAR BOX COVER, the outside moulded with radiating ribs and the underside painted with a Venetian capriccio, courtiers and merchants on a canal bank before a statue and distant men-of-war and with men ferrying merchandise in small boats before a church (minutely trimmed to fit a mount), circa 1740
