The arms are those of Grey impaling Ponsonby, for Charles, 2nd Earl Grey, K.G. (1764-1845) and his wife Mary Elizabeth (d.1861), only daughter of 1st Baron Ponsonby of Imokily whom he married on the 18th November 1794. Charles succeeded to the title on the death of his father on the death of his father on the 14th November 1807
