Lot Essay

'The Stove: Fitzroy Street' is an interior of Grant's studio at 8 Fitzroy Street and shows Angelica Bell the artist's daughter, reading, seated on a low chair inherited by Grant from Walter Sickert, the studio's previous occupant. The sculpture by the mirror is by John Skeaping and is now in the collection of the Charleston Trust
