The painting on this mirror is related to designs for reverse-glass paintings by Stalker and Parker in their A Treatise on Japanning, Varnishing & Gilding, 1688. A late 17th Century dressing-table and pair of torchères with similarly-painted floral trails were sold in Christie's, New York, 24 January 1992, lot 278.
