Lot Essay

Elaborate marquetry furniture with rustic scenes set on an ebony ground of this type, was a speciality of Sorrento, and not only proved popular amongst tourists visiting 'the land of Tasso' but was also exhibited at various International Exhibitions such as that held at Vienna in 1873.
