Lot Essay

Two pairs of mirrors of this model, attributed to the Le Nove factory, are illustrated in G. Chito, World Mirrors 1650-1900, London, 1990, p. 272, pls. 574-575. Colour schemes obviously vary considerably but an apparently similar pair was sold by D. W. Atherden, Esq., Sotheby's London, 8 July 1966, lot 201. A further pair, which retains its original maiolica candlebranches, is illustrated in G. Morazzoni, IL Mobile Veneziano del Settecento, Milan, 1958, tav. CCLXII
