Lot Essay

George Daubney (1742-1806) M.P. Bristol 1781-1784, son of George Daubney, a Bristol Merchant by Mary Jones. Married 21 August 1766, Martha Baker (1745-1787), daughter of Slade Baker.

Daubney spoke 'with great heat' in the House of Commons on 27 November 1781 in favour of continuing the American War, and declared that the Citizens of Bristol 'were willing to sacrifice half their fortune in the prosecution of it'
