The attribution to Georgiana Hare Naylor and John Flaxman is made by analogy to the view of Lake Nemi, with an Idea for a Roman Villa, sold in these rooms on 10 July 1990, lot 81, repr., where a similar attribution was based on an inscription on a label on the back by Georgiana Maurice, Georgiana Hare Naylor's step-daughter. Georgiana, first wife of Francis Hare Naylor, was a partner of Flaxman while he was in Italy from 1787 to 1794, in particular commissioning the outline drawings illustrating the Iliad and the Odyssey. She was the daughter of the Bishop of St Asaph
