Ravenfield, which stands outside Rotherham, was built by John Carr (1723-1807). The chapel was rebuilt by Carr in the Gothic taste in 1756 for Mrs Parkin (N. Pevsner, Yorkshire the West Riding, London, 1959, p. 398, illus. 13.)
