A GERMAN 18-BORE D.B. PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN, the sighted browned twist barrels with raised gilt ribs over their entire length and with gilt decoration at the muzzles, case-hardened tang overlaid with gilt dotted borders and a gold panel engraved with foliage, signed case-hardened flat locks and hammers with fluted noses (one hammer retaining screw incomplete) engraved with rococo ornament and flowerheads, the nipple-bolsters and gravitating stops gilt and engraved with scallop shells, highly figured walnut half-stock carved with a flowerhead behind the cheek-piece, case-hardened iron mounts including trigger-guard and butt-plate engraved en suite with the locks, the former with scrolled horn tang, silver-gilt escutcheon engraved with the crowned arms of Salm within mantling, sling swivels, original whalebone ramrod, and nearly all its original finish, by Adam Rosen in Dyck, circa 1830-40
