The arms on the escutcheon are those of Salm-Dyck, for Prince Josef (1773-1861)
The Parisian influence is explained by Prince Josef's close ties with France. He had been married to a French wife since 1803, and had been a Prince of the French Empire from 1804. Between 1800 and 1820 he spent each winter in Paris. However it is unusual for a German Princely family to have retained their own court gunmaker at so late a date, rather than ordering first-rate guns from Paris
