A GERMAN FLINTLOCK RIFLE with earlier dated octagonal barrel rifled with eight grooves and with punched decoration at the swamped muzzle and grooved breech, the latter struck with initials HS, rounded lock crudely engraved with flowerheads and foliage, wooden full stock (fore-end chipped), the butt with later sparsely carved prominent cheek-piece, iron mounts including thin butt-plate with long tang held by tacks, and scrolled serpentine side-plate, and later wooden ramrod (trigger mechanism, trigger-guard and rear ramrod-pipe missing), late 17th Century, the barrel dated 1620
