A GERMAN FLINTLOCK RIFLE, similar, with twist octagonal sighted barrel in the Turkish manner, swamped at the muzzle and rifled with eight grooves, brass saddle back-sight, flat bevelled lock (mainspring missing, steel damaged) with rainproof pan, the cock held internally (top jaw and screw missing), walnut half-stock partially carved with foliage, the butt with carved patch-box cover, and brass mounts cast and chased with foliage including pierced side-plate involving a grotesque mask and butt-plate with two further grotesque masks (ramrod missing), unsigned, circa 1720
