A GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING RIFLE with octagonal sighted barrel (back-sight missing) rifled with eight grooves, the breech with initials WH (Neue Støckel 4776) and struck twice with a mark (Neue Støckel1630), probably for Schwäbisch-Gmünd, plain lock with flat integral wheel-cover, fruitwood full stock with fluted fore-end, the butt and patch-box cover inlaid with roundels of horn and mother-of-pearl, iron trigger-guard, set trigger, horn fore-end cap, and horn-tipped wooden ramrod (ramrod-pipe missing), circa 1650
