A GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING GUN with octagonal sighted barrel grooved behind the back-sight and struck twice with maker's mark IS, a key between (similar to Neue Støckel 4488), flat lock struck on the tail with the same mark and with flat blued wheel-cover, and chiselled cock, fruitwood full stock with fluted fore-end, the butt partly carved with overlapping scales and inlaid with staghorn plaques engraved with animals and scenes of the chase, the patch-box cover of staghorn, dated and engraved with a nude female figure holding a dead fox, horn butt-plate numbered '33', iron trigger-guard, set trigger, engraved staghorn ramrod-pipe and fore-end cap, and original horn-tipped ramrod, dated 1650
