A PAIR OF GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING RIFLES with minor differences, with signed and dated barrels rifled with eight grooves, flat locks with integeral wheel-covers pierced with a heart (one pan flash-guard missing), full stocks each with fluted fore-end and some punched decoration, drilled with smoke escape holes in a staghorn roundel within star-shaped staghorn inlay, the cheek-pieces each with an oval staghorn medallion engraved with a wreath, within a frame of staghorn scrolls and pellets, engraved horn forward ramrod-pipes and fore-end caps, set triggers, iron trigger-guards, horn butt-plates numbered 29 and 30, and horn-tipped ramrods (one tip loose) by Johann Panat, dated 1651
