A RARE PAIR OF GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK SELF-WINDING SPORTING RIFLES with signed and dated barrels each cut with alternating broad and narrow grooves, flat locks each engraved with a fox stealing a bird within a landscape, flat wheel-covers pierced and engraved with two lions and a coronet, engraved and chiselled cocks, the bridles to the cock-springs engraved with monkeys, full stocks each with fluted fore-end and with incised and punched decoration, the butts (one wormed) inlaid with engraved horn plaques, and behind each barrel tang with a small plaque engraved with stockmaker's monogram IS, set triggers, iron trigger-guards and ramrod-pipes, and engraved horn fore-end caps (one ramrod and one side-nail missing, one action defective), by Nicolaus Moser, dated 1671
