A MOURNING SMALL-SWORD with slender blade of flattened diamond section, etched on each face of the forte with the figure of Mars, and blued iron hilt of characteristic form with original wooden grip (binding missing), early 18th Century; a small-sword, perhaps for a child, with blade of hollow triangular section, iron hilt comprising lobed rear quillon, loop-guard framing a solid side-plate, knuckle-guard, globular pommel, and grip decorated throughout with silver-damascened foliage and scrollwork (worn) against a ground of punched scrollwork, in later leather-covered scabbard (incomplete), 18th Century; a cut-steel hilted small-sword with etched blade, the hilt with pierced shell and set overall with faceted beadwork, and with bead and chain knuckle-guard, early 19th Century; and another (incomplete), late 18th Century
