INDENTD.C.M. London Gazette 11.11.1914 Lance Corporal, 1st. Bn. D.C.L.I. "For great gallantry at Beaupits on the night of the 18 October when the enemy's fire had set alight two ricks, in endeavouring to extinguish, when under a heavy cross-fire from machine-guns, the flames which were already showing clearly to the enemy the position of the battalion's trenches."
