INDENTGunner Ernest William England, Royal Artillery, was killed in action Western Desert, 17 May 1941 and was buried in Tobruk War Cemetery; Captain Richard Bell, Royal Army Service Corps, died on active service Western Desert, 24 August 1941; Trooper Dudley S. Toy, Royal Tank Regiment, was made a prisoner of war in Libya, November 1941, after a week he was released by the advancing British forces; he was reported missing in the Western Desert, 27 May 1942 -- taken prisoner again, he joined in an attempt to escape but although others were successful Toy was never heard of again -- he was listed as presumed to have been killed in action; Gunner Albert Henry Wilkes, 64th Medium Regiment, R.A., was killed in action Western Desert, 31 October -- 14 November 1942; Private William Henry Ward, Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps, was lost in SS Lancastria when the vessel was bombed and sunk in the harbour at St. Nazaire while taking on soldiers and civilian refugees, 17 June 1940
