INDENTFlight Lieutenant Basil John Brachi, Pilot, No. 239 Squadron (Mosquitos) failed to return while covering a Berlin raid, 28 January 1944; the starboard engine became unserviceable whilst the aircraft was over enemy territory -- Brachi turned for base but after 1½ hours the port engine began cutting -- the crew baled out over the North sea and an extensive Air-Sea-Rescue search failed to locate them.

Flight Sergeant Eric Symonds Bayley, Wireless Operator Air Gunner No. 224 Squadron (Liberators) was returning from an anit-Submarine sweep, 7 November 1942, when his aircraft overshot the runway at Beaulieu, took off to complete another circuit, crashed and exploded killing all seven crew members

Sergeant Kenneth Albert Wait, Air Gunner No. 51 Squadron (Whiteleys) was missing presumed killed in action, 6 September 1942 after his aircraft took off from Chivenor on anti-submarine patrol and was not heard of again

Sergeant Thomas Henry Hornbrook, Aircrew No. 547 Squadron (Wellingtons) failed to return from carrying out a search for enemy iron ore ships between Santandor and Bayonne, 22/23 April 1943

Flying Officer Eric Francis, Navigator was carrying out an authorised training exersise in a Wellington of No. 81 O.T.U. when the aircraft collided with a Halifax near Peterborough; all members of both crews were killed
