INDENTSergeant Ronald Little, Pilot, a founding member of No. 238 Squadron (Hurricanes) appears in the Squadron records from 1 July 1940 flying in 'Blue Section'; he took part in at least 76 sorties including: 'Blue Section' intercepted 15 Me110 dive bombing -- two E/A destroyed (20/21 July); Sergt Little attacked by E/A -- damage to aircraft -- bullet through shoe and parachute (25/26 July); Interrupt raid on 'Peewit' convoy -- confused dogfight ensued -- nine E/A brought down including one Do 215 by Sgt. Little, unconfirmed (7/8 August); mixed force of 50 + E/A encountered near Portland -- six E/A damaged -- 400 + E/A intercepted, Portland travelling North -- four E/A destroyed -- Sgt. Little shot in sea by Messerchmitt and picked up safely (12/13 August); 12 sorties comprising whole Squadron vectored to Brooklands, Kenley -- strong formation of E/A met -- Squadron's best day -- 10 E/A accounted for -- two He111 damaged by Sgt. Little and P/O Rozycki (14/15 September); Intercepted raid over Bristol -- six E/A destroyed -- "Sgt. Little one" (24/25 September)

Proceeding to an area east of the Isle of Wight, the Squadron encountered 25 Me110 flying in a defensive circle with Me109 to starboard -- the Squadron attacked but were themselves attacked by Me109. Little was shot down by a Messerschmitt Bf110 and did not return
