INDENTDistinguished Service Order London Gazette 4.12.1918., Second Lieutenant Royal Fusiliers "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty, his platoon being held up and suffering many casualties from two machine-guns, which were firing from a church, he rushed forward alone and captured the first gun from the flank, killing four and wounding the remainder of the team. Some of his men having by this time caught up with him, he at once rushed them towards the rear of the second gun, which they captured, killing or wounding the whole team. His splendid courage, dashing gallantry and bold initiative were beyond all praise."
