INDENTMajor Herbert George Mason, educated Cheltenham College, commissioned into the 5th Battalion (T.D.), Gloucestershire Regiment 1927; went with the battalion to France, 1939, took part in the battle of Ledringham, and was evacuated at Dunkirk; appointed Second-in-Command, 43 Recce Regiment, and in 1943 posted to Allied Military Government in Italy, where he served until the end of the war; joined the reformed T.A., 1947, as O.C. 'A' company 5th Glosters; Second-in-Command 5th Glosters 1948-54; earned the unusual distinction of a Territorial Efficiency Decoration with three clasps (London Gazette 31.3.1950); Major Mason died 31 March 1967
