Near East, ninth-tenth century with additions
manuscript on vellum, 7ff., six from the same Qur'an, four of these with 9ll. clear brown pointed kufic, punctuation in green, vowels in red, later green and gold margin within black rules (centre of each page corroded through with loss of text), the extra page a fragment from a similar Qur'an, with TWO ILLUMINATED CARPET PAGES in gold and colours, each with a central X-motif between rectangualr diaper panels, a palmette issuing from one side, amended in the late sixteenth century with the addition of blue, red and gold arabesque panels and borders, (slight creasing and damage), velvet covered boards
