Maghrib(?), xxxxxxeenth century
comprising ch.v, sura al-Ma'idah to ch.ix, sura al-Tauba, manuscript on vellum, 113ff., each with 11ll. of strong brown maghribi, diacritics in maroon and blue, gold trefoils outlined in black with maroon and blue dots between verses, gold roundels to mark sections, gold and blue marginal medallions to mark hizb(?), occasional marginal notes in black with red diacritics, sura headings in gold ornamental kufic outlined in black with marginal medallions of gold and blue arabesques containing the word sura, the first heading within an illuminated rectangle, (very slight staining and creasing, a few folios loose), opening double folio finely illuminated with large gold squares of arabesques and interlaced kufic forming a geometric design within green and red rules, each side with a medallion extending into the outer margin (minor damage to page edges, some staining), final page with square of similar gold illumination below the text, maroon morocco binding with stamped central medallion, pendants and spandrels, and gilt decoration (one side loose, one side detached), brown morocco doublures with gold rosettes (minor scuffing)
