Qur'an folio

細節
Qur'an folio
Anatolia, fourteenth century

comprising part of sura ii, al-Baqarah, vv.63-64, manuscript on paper with 3ll. of flowing black rayhani, Persian interlinear translation in small black naskh, gold rosettes between verses, upper and lower border of pious sayings in blue or red kufic with red or blue geometric devices on scrolling gold arabesques, recto with an applied unrelated sura heading written vertically in outer margin in white ornamental kufic against a gold background with interlacing geometric designs, geometric designs in gold, blue, red and green at outer corners, some staining, framed and glazed each side
folio 11 x 7in. (28.2 x 17.8cm.)

Several other single folios of this qur'an exist and have been ascribed to various locations, most frequently sultanate India. The kufic borders do not however appear to be contemporary with the script; folios have therefore been linked with similar ones without borders which more closely ressemble Central Asian or Anatolian qur'ans.
