famous allegorical poem of mystical significance entitled "The Language of the Birds", Persian manuscript on ivory paper, 117ff. plus four flyleaves, each with two columns of black nasta'liq enclosed within gold lines and black rules, headings in gold naskh outlined in black enclosed within similar lines, various double couplets centred between gold and green or blue floral decoration, occasional marginal notes in black, very slight damages, double title page finely illuminated with two gold and polychrome medallions containing blue cartouches with scrolling green palmettes around the gold nashk title, blue and gold margins, opening page of text with blue, red, black and green illuminated white ornamental kufic, brown morocco bindings with stamped gold central medallion and margins, spine repaired
