consisting of Makhsan al-Asrar, a series of poems and versified legends of ethical and mystical significance (written AH 570/1174 AD), and Khusraw wa Shirin, a versified love story of mystical significance (written AH 576/1180 AD), Persian manuscript on buff paper, 102ff. with eleven flyleaves, ff.1-96 with 25ll. fine early black nasta'liq arranged in four columns, gold margins and interlinear lines between black rules, small titles in gold naskh among spiralling arabesques, (slight smudging and creasing), opening double folio with full illumination and angular kufic titles around the text, similar heading on ff.26v., with seven illustrations in the text, each half to three-quarter size, (damages and defaced faces) the last six folios bound in from another manuscript containing extracts from later poets particularly the Nan wa Halwa of Baha al-Din Amili (d.AH 1031/1622 AD), later light brown leather covers (damages)
