A QAJAR POLYCHROME LACQUERED PAPIER MACHE MIRROR CASE of rectangular form with separate cover, the front depicting a terrace with courtiers seated and standing on carpets, one negligently stroking a lion who snarls at a second, others debating across a hookah, an extensive landscape visible beyond, the back with a similar scene of debating sages, the interior depicting a young prince visiting an elderly sage in a similarly lush landscape, all within black and gold leafy and floral borders, circa 1830-1850 (minor repairs, lacquer crackled)
