A FINE KHORASSAN COPPER INLAID BRONZE EWER with spherical body, tubular neck and high rising part covered trough spout, the body with a central band of engraved scolling vine aroudn a copper-inlaid kufic inscription, radiating pointed lobes above and below in high repoussé alternating with raised triangular motifs carved with trefoil interlace, the upper lobes alternately engraved with scrolling vine leading from medallions and kufic inscriptions, the rib under the spout with a copper-inlaid similar inscription with maker's signature, a band of cast kufic around the neck, the neck with similar engraved bands around panels of scrolling vine, a crescent-shaped loop at each side, the short foot with and engraved and probably slightly later kufic inscription, late 11th century (very slight restoration, possibly composite, the handle a recent replacement)
