Lot Essay

Apart from the sheer quantity of later dishes found on the island, it is the group of dishes depicting ships that give the strongest weight to the argument that there was indeed a factory on Rhodes in the seventeenth century, probably formed by a group of migrant potters from Iznik. No kiln sites have so far been located.
