Tadanori Yokoo, one of Japan's best known contemporary artists because noticed in the 1960's as an illustrator, designing mainly record sleeves and posters, but also doing drawings for Issey Miyake and the writer Yukio Mishima. Since 1981 he has devoted himself exclusively to painting. His watch was launched in 1987 as part of his own exhibition entitled "Swatch - inspired time themes".
